Photoetry: UT poet and local photographer have joint show Sunday (April 19)

Join photographer Suzanne Williamson and writer Donald Morrill for Ritual of Attention, an evening devoted to the word and the image.

Vietnamese Artist Shows His Love For Teaching

Hoang Van-Bui, a University of Tampa art teacher, has shared his love for art with UT students for more than 10 years.

He says art can be found anywhere, believing his ability to recognize it stems from his first exposure to art in the second grade and the fact that he kept up with his passion.

Sunday In The Arts Will Raise Money for UT Scholarships Sunday Night

Las Damas de Arte will present Sunday In The Arts, an annual exhibition and fundraiser, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Teatro on Seventh in Centro Ybor, 1600 E. Eighth Ave.

Sunday in the Arts, open to the public, is a juried show, featuring more than 50 Tampa Bay Area women artists. Works shown include paintings, drawings, ceramics, photography, sculpture, fiber, jewelry and mixed media. The event also features entertainment by the LaRue Nichelson Group; food and drinks will be served.

101 Pieces of a Dream March 27-28 ($25)

A juried art exhibition at UT's Scarfone Hartley Gallery that features original work from community-ecognized artists and emerging artists from Pyramid Galleries and MacDonald Training Center Fine Arts Studios. Work from prominent artists Duncan McClellan, Carolyn Heller and Florida Highwaymen as well as many others.

Juried Fundraiser Friday and Saturday at S/H Gallery

Tampa Trib: Scarfone/Hartley Gallery on the University of Tampa campus will host a two-day juried fundraiser called "101 Pieces of a Dream," featuring works by local professional and emerging artists Friday and Saturday.

The signature piece of the event is a donated work for auction by Tampa glass artist Duncan McClellan. McClellan recently won a merit award in this year's Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts. The other 100 pieces will be available for purchase.

UT Communication Professor to Read from New Book March 23

Tim Kennedy, author and professor of communication at The University of Tampa, will give a reading on Monday, March 23, at 4 p.m. in the Macdonald-Kelce Library, Room AV2. The reading is free and open to the public.

Kennedy most recently published Where the Rivers Meet the Sky: A Collaborative Approach to Participatory Development (Southbound, 2009), and is the author of the 2006 book Midnight Son: A Tribute to John Lee Hooker (University of Tampa Press).
